Capacity Building Training on Oil and Gas sector held

Capacity Building training focusing on Oil and Gas sector was held in Sule Shangri-la Hotel, Yangon on September 5-7, 2018.

Oil for development programme of Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad) supported this training to enhance the capacity of Myanmar EITI.  

Government officials and experts from Ministry of Electricity and Energy, Myanmar EITI Multi-Stakeholder Group members, Subcommittee members, representatives of Fiscal Policy, Strategy and EITI Unit of Budget Department, Myanmar EITI National Coordination Secretariat, Oil and Gas Companies and other observers joined the three-day event.

In the training, the consultant from Norad, Mr. Vidar Ovesen firstly introduced the schedule of training and asked the oil and gas sector related survey questions to the attendees by using KAHOOT software.

Then, he presented objectives, design and key features of petroleum fiscal regimes and review of different types of petroleum contracts such as production sharing contracts (PSCs), performance Compensation Contracts (PCCs) and Improved Petroleum Recovery Contracts (IPRCs).

He also discussed the review of key fiscal terms of the Myanmar petroleum fiscal regime as well as its strengths, weaknesses and challenges.

Furthermore, the consultant presented his assessment of 2014-15 and 2015-16 MEITI reports and dissemination of EITI data in these reports comparing with international experiences and practices.

At the end of the training, the consultant gave out the certificates of completion to all participants, and the government officials and Myanmar EITI NCS also thanked him with presents.
