Beneficial Ownership Disclosure Press Conference was held on 28 February, 2020 at CBC Ballroom, Cooperative Business Centre, Yangon.
The conference was organized to disclose the beneficial ownership data resulted from first phase data collection for MEITI Beneficial Ownership Implementation Process.
Director General of Directorate of Investment and Company Administration, National Coordinator of MEITI Secretariat, members of MEITI multi-stakeholders group-MSG, members of Beneficial Ownership Task Force, representatives from relevant government agencies, representatives from relevant civil society organizations-CSOs, Representatives from Embassy and development partners, representatives from disclosed companies and other companies, observers and media correspondents, total of more than 130 personals attended this press conference.
At the conference, U Thant Sin Lwin, Director General of Directorate of Investment and Company Administration gave opening remarks and U Soe Win, National Coordinator of MEITI-NCS gave the remarks for Beneficial Ownership Disclosure for implementation of Myanmar Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative.
And then, the message video of Mark Robinson, Executive Director of International Secretariat, was shown at the press conference. Next, group photos were taken for the record of conference.
Director U Myo Min from DICA, Asistant General Manager U Shwe Win from Myanmar Gems Enterprise, Deputy Director Daw Win Win Kyu, Chairman U Khin Maung Han from Myanmar Federation of Mining Association (MFMA) and Steering Committee Member Daw Moe Moe Htun from Myanmar Alliance for Transparency and Accountibility (MATA) presented the panel discussion for MEITI Beneficial Ownership Disclosure aspects, impacts and future trends. Country Manager U Maw Htun Aung from Natural Resource Governance Institute was facilited as the moderator.
The Media and audience were raised the questions to the panelists and then repective panelists and Deputy Director General U Kyaw Thet from Department of Mining, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment Conservation, answered and discussed the related questions.
