16th Multi-stakeholder Group (MSG) meeting held

16th Multi-stakeholder Group (MSG) meeting was held in Sule Shangri-La Hotel, Yangon on October 2, 2018.

Chairman, Vice Chairman and Members of Multi-stakeholder Group, Representatives of Sub-National Coordination Units (SNUs), Fiscal Policy, Strategy and EITI Unit of Budget Department of Ministry of Planning and Finance, Myanmar EITI National Coordinator and National Coordination Secretariat Officials, Independent Administrator for 2016-17  Myanmar EITI report, Donors and Observers joined the meeting.

 

In the meeting, National Coordination Secretariat presented the updated implementation status of 15th MSG decisions, updates of validation process, processing situation for 2016-17 Myanmar EITI report, work plan of Beneficial Ownership, updates of 2014-15 and 2015-16 Myanmar EITI Forestry report, current situations of Pre-cadaster Working Group and Mineral and Gemstone Cadaster and outline of 2014-15 and 2015-16 Myanmar EITI report launch event.

Also, A government official from Mining Department, Ministry of Natural Resource and Environmental Conservation presented the experiences of International Conference on Artisanal and Small-scale Mining and Quarrying in Zambia on September 9-17, 2018.

A number of decisions were made in the meeting, including the development of Beneficial Ownership guidelines for government and private sector, the formation of  SNUs in remaining Regions and States before the end of December, 2018 and necessary follow-up on 2015-16 Myanmar EITI Forestry report.
