11th Meeting of Myanmar EITI Multi-Stakeholders Group Meeting (14 and 15 February 2018)

The 11th Meeting of Myanmar EITI Multi-Stakeholders Group Meeting held from 9AM to 5PM at Nga Like Kan Thar Hotel, Nay Pyi Taw on February 14 and 15, 2018.

The meeting was attended by the representatives from government, Civil Society Organizations, the private sector, the Budget Department of MOPF, IA (Moore Stephen) consultants, members from MSG, MGE, MTE, MOGE, MOEE, OAG World Bank, NRGI, US Embassy, Australian Embassy, USAID, DFID and MEITI-NCS team members, other participants and observers.

The meeting was opend with the speech by U Maung Maung Win who is the Vice President from Ministry of Planning and Finance. He said that “In this meeting, we will discussed about the draft report data with respective government, the first report’s recommendation which had already done activities under process activities and the second and third reports will also release for two years at the same time. That’s why those recommendations have to do by respective government department. And then, we have to try best in coming validation on coming July 2018 and need to carry out Beneficial Ownership and mining cadaster in future. We need to try our best in transparence in the extractive sector. That’s why Myanmar national will get benefit from extractive sector. And then, we will release the final report English version on March 12, 2018 and Myanmar version will be on March 30, 2018 and also upload it on MEITI website. I hereby request to all participants to discuss together in this meeting actively”.

In this meeting, IA (Moore Stephen) presented and discussed the second and third draft report data and information. Then, the respective department discussed conversely. After that, they discussed about Sub-National Coordination Unit formation in states and regions and confirmed date for Sub-Committee meeting, presented about Beneficial Ownership and Mining Cadaster. Finally, they confirmed today’s meeting decision and conducted the meeting successfully.
